چکیده

The lake Baikal Neutrino Experiment has history of more than 20 years, starting from small short experiments with a few PMTs in the early 80s to the present large scale longterm operating neutrino telescope NT-200, which has been put into operation on April 6th 1998. The telescope’s effective area for muons is 2000-10000 depending on a muon energy. The rate of events due to atmospheric neutrinos is about 1 per two days.

The Baikal Neutrino Telescope: Status and Plans

The high energy neutrino telescope NT200+ is currently in operation in Lake Baikal. We review the status of the Baikal Neutrino Telescope, and describe recent progress on key components of the next generation kilometer-cube (km3) Lake Baikal detector, like investigation of new large area phototubes, integrated into the telescope.

Neutrino Astrophysics in the cold: Amanda, Baikal and IceCube

This talk reviews status and results from the two presently operating underwater/ice neutrino telescopes, NT-200 in Lake Baikal and AMANDA-II at the South Pole. It also gives a description of the design and the expected performance of IceCube, the next-generation neutrino telescope at South Pole.

In situ measurements of optical parameters in Lake Baikal with the help of a Neutrino telescope.

We present results of an experiment performed in Lake Baikal at a depth of approximately 1 km. The photomultipliers of an underwater neutrino telescope under construction at this site were illuminated by a distant laser. The experiment not only provided a useful cross-check of the time calibration of the detector but also allowed us to determine inherent optical parameters of the water in a way...

High Energy Neutrino Astronomy : Win 99

Although high energy neutrino astronomy is a multidisciplinary science, gamma ray bursts have become the theoretical focus since recent astronomical observations revealed their potential as cosmic particle accelerators. This spotlight is shared with investigations of the potential of high energy telescopes to observe oscillating atmospheric neutrinos. The Superkamiokande results have boosted at...
